What is a campaign?
There are many different types of campaigns, but the type I will be looking into is a marketing or promotional campaign. According to Investopedia, "marketing campaigns promote products through different types of media, such as television, radio, print and online platforms."
Most campaigns such as military, social or political, consist of many tasks and people with different roles that work together to reach the final goal. A social or political campaign may include posters, online petitions and protests, whereas a military campaign works by creating a team with the army, navy and airforce to reach their goal.
For film marketing, there are lots of ways that a company can produce buzz around their film, for example, releasing trailers, live interviews for magazines and radio, Tv appearances, posters, billboards, synergies with products that have a similar target audience and much more. All of these go into the set goal of their product reaching a bigger audience, and creating as much profit as possible and therefore being as successful as possible.
Similarly to film, the music industry also has similar strategies. The record label or an independent artist will put as much money into their campaign budget as possible, because more types of media a campaign covers, the bigger their audience will be and the more their campaign will be seen. Some more ways of doing this is through merchandise, tour tickets, physical copies if their albums on CD's or Vinyl, and downloads of the tracks. And at the same time, need to create an image for their brand, actor, or in this case, musician, to establish a sort after and star image.
