Music vid 1: That's why

Music video idea 1: 'That's why' by Terrance And The High Flyers

We had to come up with three music video ideas, and present one to the class when we go back in September. Here is my first idea:

Genre: Psychedelic Rock with a modern spin

For my first idea, I wanted to find a song in my favourite genre which is Rock. I'm very influenced and a big fan of the 60s music scene, so this came to mind straight away. I wanted to create a concept inspired by bands and artists such as Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, Jefferson Airplane and The Beatles.

About the Song and Band:

-They are a 60s classic rock, British boy band
-similar to bands like The Beatles, The Kinks and Jefferson airplane
-The song is an upbeat, fast tempo rock song
-Keys, drums, bass, vocals and multipleguitars
- includes elements such as a guitar solo and backing vocals

The Cast

I wanted to keep the cast simple but still have enough going on to keep it interesting:
-the classic four piece boy band: Lead and rhythm guitar, bass and drums

-and also four 60s style femaleGo-Go dancers to dance along to the song

The set

Many of the music videos during this time were of bands performing live, or on a set, so I want to design the set similarly to how there's would've looked.
-colourful block colours/ patterns and prints like flowers and stripes
-platforms for the girls to stand on and to bring colour to the set

-A projector could make the set even more colourful and create a really cool effect on the dancers and the band members
-captures the hippie/free spirit energy of the track

-The camera would focus mostly on the band, as they are mostly in the middle of the shot and facing the camera for most of the video, (but with different angles and closeups)
-But also point at the dancers especially during the guitar solo

-This concept will work well for the star image of the band because the audience will get to see their faces, and what instruments they play.
-Will also see their aesthetic and how they interact with the other band members, showing their personalities

-overall it's a very bright, fun and upbeat, retro inspired video
