behind the scenes of the photoshoot

Behind the scenes of the photoshoot

I met with my photographer friend Sophie, and we bought the band to this clearing in the woods where there were lots of leaves, like the Rubber Soul photoshoot. I think putting the band in nature makes them seem more like 'real people' rather than super professional in a studio. This way it relate them more to their target audience.

We shot for the front cover first, and made sure to try different facial expressions and distances.

Then, we shot the back cover, as it was pretty much the same positions just turned around. We played around a little with where they were looking; starting with just straight forward, and then with them looking up as if they were looking at the track list, which i quite liked.

Finally, we shot the more challenging photos, which was the ones on the floor, with the band looking up at the camera. It was a little hard to make it look natural, and took a few attempts, but i'm really happy with how they turned out, and i think they really push the artwork to looking really 60s boyband-esque.

How i think it went:

Sophie, the band and i had so much fun with the shoot, as the photos were quite simple and i'd planned it all out before. I think the costumes looked great together and with the setting, and the band were so easy to work with (they even showed their commitment by laying down on the slightly damp leaves).
