Deciding on the font

 Deciding on the font

Researching the font

For the font, i was inspired by the posters and artwork from the mid to late 60s. The fonts were colourful and eccentric, and therefore often took a little while to read. This is because it would result in viewers and target audience looking at them longer, trying to figure out the text, so they had their attention for longer.

To find the fonts i wanted, i started by googling 'Psychedelic font'. 'FontSpace' was the first to come up

I typed in the title of the album, and looked through the options to see which stood out to me the most.

I really liked the 'Flames' font, as it was all in bold and capitals, which will be very eye catching and confident, fitting well with the rock and roll genre. It also isn't too late 60s and psychedelic, which is favourable because my band is inspired from the mid to late years of the decade.

I really loves the design, with the tall letters, made of curves and straight lines. I think it is very unique and obvious to the decade.

The font website even had some background information about the font and how it came about:

I decided to keep looking at fonts however, just in case i saw one that i think worked/looked better. But i was happy that i had a very good option already.

I googled '60s font' this time, to be a little more vague, and see what other styles i could find.

Again, I typed in the name of the band, so i would be able to see what it looked like in each of the fonts. The styles were definitely more varied than i thought they would be.

I quite liked the 'Price down' font, and it reminded me of something more Beatle-esque than hippie, which would hypothetically would better with our band.

However, i don't think the font was as exciting as the previous one i chose. It also doesn't work as well with the logo, which is quite  unmistakably a psychedelic themed font. I would like to see how both look on the digipak however, so I will try both. I think that would be the best way to compare them, and see which one would look better.
